Senate votes to continue use of cluster bombs
Random Rants
06 September 2006

Child's drawing of kids finding cluster bombs"An amendment to the 2007 defense appropriations bill that would have prevented military funding from paying for cluster munitions failed on the floor of the Senate by a vote of 30-70". So claims Raw Story today. Right, because there are still way too many kids in the world with functioning limbs. What really, really pisses me off is the fact that Senator Hillary Clinton (D - clueless) voted in favor of killing the amendment. In other words, the junior Senator from New York thinks it's just fine for the US to continue to scatter lethal little bomlets (such a cute word) around the world.

Along with all the other issues where she's as bad as the next rabid right-winger, I want this to come back to haunt her in the primary for the '08 presidency. Or maybe she can simply take over from Joe Lieberman as the most pathetic excuse for a Democratic Senator ever...

My favorite journalist, Robert Fisk, has investigated the unmitigated joys that clusterbombs have brought to the Iraqi people, and occasionally someone will point out that the use of cluster munitions on civilians is, what that quaint term again, oh yes, a war crime.
