Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children

womenscommissionThe WCRWC is a prominent advocacy group based in New York City; they rely extensively on their website to disseminate resources and information on pressing issues regarding immigration, human rights, and the needs of the most vulnerable populations in crisis situations around the world. I originally had a design created by Enrique Sallent when I took over work on the site in 2004. Since then it has undergone several overhauls, most recently with the help of Robert Gagnon and the generosity of the Pearson Foundation. It was temporarily built as shtml, but is now largely a php affair with a database-driven resource library and news section as well as an increasing amount of multimedia content.

Reproductive Health Response in Conflict Consortium

rhrcThe RHRC site has undergone several major overhauls since I took over day-to-day maintenance and development in 2004. Initially built as static HTML, it switched to ColdFusion and in its most recent incarnation the site is built in PHP. A MySQL back-end drives a resource database with a custom-built content management interface. In 2006 we added an online test module (built partly with Macromedia's old Coursebuilder extension for Dreamweaver), and in 2007 a 3rd party online conference registration system was implemented as well.

W. A. Smith Auction Gallery

wsmithauction_800.jpgOne of the biggest auction houses in New England, Smith's has a significant number of comprehensive estate auctions throughout the year. Smith's was early to realize the potential of the web to prep and entice potential auction visitors and reach out to potential sellers, and we initially developed a very rudimentary site to get the ball rolling. Several subsequent rebuilds have led to a very involved site that can serve hundreds of images across hundreds of auction lots for a given auction, and allows Smith's staff to manage the process entirely.

Built in ColdFusion on a MySQL back-end with a custom content management module. Makes use of a modified version of the amazing lightbox js script.

Vietnam-CDC-Harvard Medical School AIDS Partnership

vchap_800.jpg The Vietnam-CDC-Harvard Medical School AIDS Partnership had been running for a couple of years when it became apparent that the initiative needed a web presence to better present its work and projects to the public. Built around a Rockettheme template formed the basis a highly customized Joomla site went live in the beginning of 2007.

One of the key challenges was creating a fully bi-lingual site with all content and all functionality available in Vietnamese. A modified Joomfish compontent was key in accomplishing that goal.

New England AIDS Education Center

neaetc_800.jpg NEAETC provides HIV/AIDS training and education to nurses and other clinicians and social workers in greater New England. The core element of the website that I redesigned for them in 2005 is an events calendar with an online registration module. Custom biult in ColdFusion on MySQL.
